Call it Footworkjungle! The hybrid bass music version of Chicago's dance music history of juke and footwork and the Bristol's jungle breakbeat has been coming to life across the globe for a decade now - and Arcane & Jon1st are contributing to it with their second EP on Defrostatica. While Bloodstone EP was an ad-lib-rich, all-out breakbeat assault, the UK duo went deeper on Waves EP, focusing on big emotions over sharp beats. Tears is the perfect floor opener, with a bouncy 808 giving way to a rumbling bassline in love with pads and amen breakbeats. Energy Drink Sponsorship Application is exactly what it says it is. Influenced by juke and tribal breakbeats, Escape Plan becomes more and more captivating. Waves is a cinematic breakbeat journey with the perfect hook.
